What could be more wonderful than a mélange of gentle blossom to start the week?
You don't have to know your Amelanchier from your Prunus, or even your Cercis from your Malus to enjoy nature's very own ornamental confetti this month.
Lift your eyes as you walk along, follow the flight of the bumblebee and let beautiful blossom raise your spirits and widen your smile.
Beautiful, mine doesn't blossom till May, I love them even more when they toss down their confetti after a few weeks.
ReplyDeleteI love how it gathers to soften my footsteps as I walk, magical!
DeleteSo beautiful Paul! We just had a thunderstorm. It was like walking through a huge cloud of pink and white confetti indeed :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy evening!
Madelief x
It makes for such a pretty show Madelief, especially when a gust of wind sends it flittering on the breeze.
DeleteSpring is mostly wonderful time of the year!
ReplyDeleteMagnificent gorgeous images :)))
Thank you lovely Violetta. Hopes all well and that the temps are rising for you:)
DeleteSpring is wearing her pretty pink and white petticoats…………time to mothproof the wool coats and stash the snow boots at long last! Gorgeous blossom pics Paul - ours are out and the bees are already buzzing (good) along with the hornets (bad) - I'm not really complaining though, but I will when the darned mosquitoes arrive in another month or so.
ReplyDeleteHeavy rain here today, a little thunder too. I see my azaleas budding and my wisteria has just popped out, perfect!
Have fab week in London.
Hugs - Mary
It sounds like things are well under way in your garden Mary. I'll happily garden around all the insects in our garden who seem to come and have a nosey at what I'm up to without interfering to much. I actually quite like being surrounded by all the bees we have visiting. Bzzz! :)
DeletePaul x
How beautiful!!! We are just a bit behind you all - not too much action yet. But soon our cherry, magnolia and quince blossoms will all pop! Oh, such a tease.....
ReplyDeleteSuch an exciting time of year, I never tire of the anticipation!
DeleteBeautiful photos, Paul, and a treat to see as spring still seems a very long way away from Vermont! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeletePhyllis
Ah yes but the build up only makes it all the more beautiful when it finally does arrive. x
DeleteEvery year the blossom catches me unawares, does it improve each year?
ReplyDeleteI know just what you mean Rosemary, it does feel like the blossoms get better. I think its that we look closer with each year that passes, with renewed interest that creates the magical illusion.
DeleteOh, I'm so envious, we're not there yet, not even close. I guess I'll just enjoy your Spring until ours arrives.
ReplyDeleteYou get 2 for 1 then, how cool is that? :)
DeleteMy who from my what? But you're right, I love them all.

Earth goddess that you are, I knew that you would love them all Jane X
DeleteHello Paul
ReplyDeleteYou make it sound so simple when you tell us to just lift our eyes and inhale the perfume.

We spend so much of our time looking down at the pavement missing the wonderful things going on right above our heads.
DeleteJust keep an eye out for random banana skins though.....whoops!

The wait is over Margaret:)
DeleteDear Paul,
ReplyDeletethose seas of blossoms: one is not only walking on pink-white clouds, but really lifted up a bit into the sky. The abundance, the fragility, the scent - a dream, a promise, a joy for eyes and soul.
I love your poetic affinity with nature Britta!
DeleteHi Paul,
ReplyDeleteThese spring blooms are beautiful. We only have a few right now, so these are a welcome sight. I'm especially anxious for the apple trees to bloom.
I think you would love having espaliered trees. I talked, dreamed, planned on them for about 8 years before they materialized for me.
Cheers,
Keri
We have fruit trees here which we are also waiting to blossom but something espaliered really would be lovely too.
DeleteIt's a beautiful collage, Paul! I have a huge edible cherry tree in the garden. It's in full blossom, but I find that cherry and apple blossom are not scented in this country. I wonder why?
ReplyDeleteAs you mentioned the word "confetti" I will tell you why "confetti" is called "confetti" and also why it's used at weddings, in this country.
The word confetti, in Italian, means "sugared almonds" When I was a little girl, and maybe even now, when a bride came out of church, after the wedding ceremony, well wishers, guests and relatives would "throw" handfuls of rice, coins and sugared almonds, confetti, in the direction of the happy couple, to wish them a happy life together.
So, your tissue paper confetti is nothing but a lighter, less sweet, not edible, but cheaper version of the traditional sweet, smooth and more expensive, but original Italian sugared almonds: confetti! I quite like the tissue ones, but you can't eat them.
There you go: you've learnt a new, useful fact, Paul!
BTW: I posted the chocolate semifreddo recipe, today. You must make this. It's truly yummy!
HUGS

Candlelit suppers! You wouldn't be a fan of Mrs. Bouquet, or is it Bucket? I bet you haven't got "Room for a pony, though!"
